Now that summer is ramping up with more hours of sunlight, I am noticing that I am feeling a little more exhausted than usual. And wow, all these video calls, they can really take it out of you. These seasons of transition provide a great opportunity to check in with ourselves and pay attention to what we need to boost our energy during the day and have some fun along the way.
I’m trying a few things to power me up that may be helpful to you this week.
Let’s stand together
Try standing up if you can organize your workspace that way. If you don’t have a standing desk, consider elevating your computer by stacking books or boxes on top of your desk so that your computer is at eye level.
Research shows that we increase our physical resources if we move every 30 minutes. Let’s move it, move it! Consider setting a timer to remind yourself to get up to move, even if only to walk around your home or office, or do 10 jumping jacks, wide arm circles or air squats. Moving our bodies sends blood to our brains, increases our vibrancy, and helps us to be more resilient.
Hold the phone
Take a look at your phone right now. Notice how your shoulders hunch forward, your head drops and tech neck disrupts our posture. Try holding your phone at eye level and keeping your ears in alignment with your shoulders. Remember how your mom used to nag you about your posture? She was right!
This week, practice being mindful about your physical health and don’t forget to get outside. We can take better care of ourselves in small ways to help boost our physical resilience.
Here’s to your health!
